How much spent on her Diamond Ring and how big is it?
I'm looking to upgrade my diamond Engagement Ring, its been 5 years. We are the class upper-middle middle class. I have read in many sites online that what is recommended is 1-3 months of salary, but there is no fixed rule. I do not want anything ostentatious and feel even 1 months salary is ridiculous. I also do not want to risk being stolen or fake looking. Do people think that 1 ct. Emerald Cut is too much/4500.00 dollars color, vvs ect. is 1.5 weeks salary for my husband. I'm not a flashy person, prefer the comfort of 5'10, but I'm pretty big, size 12 shoe. My old ring was only $ 635 and Pear Shape 0.34 ct. So what do people think?
I think you are taking a big risk of buying a Internet! I took my wife to a local jeweler, who has been around for 35 + years. His diamonds were amazing! I think if you're serious you have to do the same! I am not recommending a chain of stores though. If you live in Lawrence Kansas to see the street Goldmakers Massachusetts. They are the best! Ask to see the rocks beneath magnification and / or a loop. If you decide to buy one, use that for that diamond jeweler again and then have it appraised by him. Take this assessment (and ring with receipt) to your insurance agent and make the loss or damage insured aginst!
