Is it okay to have a Red Stone for an Engagement Ring, & to use the same ring for the engagement and wedding?
I hate diamonds- everyone uses them, and I just don’t like them, because they’re boring. I’ve always wanted just one simple garnet set in silver or White Gold rather than a fancy multiple diamond one set in Yellow Gold like everyone else has. Would what I want be tacky or look cheap?

Also, is it okay to use the same ring for both the engagement and the wedding? I just don’t see the point of buying an expensive ring I would wear maybe a year before I got married and put on a different expensive new ring, but I would like a ring with a stone. And how would that work for the wedding if I was to do it?
Not that I’m getting married anytime soon- these are just the random thoughts of a girl, lol.
Diamonds are not the “traditional” stone for the engagement ring. This didn’t even become popular until the 1880’s. You can wear any kind of ring and any kind of stone you want. I personally hate diamonds because of all of the issues surrounding them. They are not that rare, but because they are controlled people can jack the prices up, often after using slave labor to mine them. It’s horrible.
You don’t have to get a second Wedding Band, either. I have an amethyst ring that would look really weird with another ring. It is my engagement and wedding band. During the wedding, my husband and I exchanged our rings. I just took mine off to use during the ceremony. It wasn’t “weird” at all, as someone suggested. There is only one ring included during the ceremony, so how could it possibly be weird?
The point is, you can do anything you want. Congratulations for having a mind and not being a sheep.
