True North Gems Rings in the New Year with the discovery of a 139-carat Sapphire

Investors in True North Gems (TSX.V: TGX) were treated with a rare Christmas gift from the past when the company reported the discovery of a whole new perspective of sapphire with a 139 carat Blue Sapphire on its Beluga sapphire property in Nunavut, Canada. The prospect is located on the south coast of Baffin Island, approximately six hundred km west of the prospects of the company's Greenland ruby.

The news may have taken a surprise to some investors, who have been watching closely as the company works for a preliminary positive assessment of his proposed 110 km Fiskenaesset ruby square on the southwest coast of Greenland.

The Beluga sapphire property is actually two mining concessions covering nearly 9.9 km square Kimmiru village. TGX acquired the property in November 2003 through an option agreement with search engines that at the beginning of the Inuit discovered occurrences sapphire.

The Beluga sapphire occurrence is a metamorphic-type deposit – essentially an ore deposit formed under great pressures and high temperatures where the change in these conditions twists, warps and folds the earth and can form stones.

To date, twelve gem occurrences, including blue, colorless (sometimes called white), pink and Yellow Sapphire, have been discovered in the Beluga sapphire property over an area of 2.7 km strike.

The occurrence is Kikturiaq about 1.2 km northeast of the main Beluga occurrence. Samples collected from the surface of the exhibition includes several sapphires. The larger a crystal almost complete weight 27.85 grams or 139.24 carats.

According to company documents, large sapphire crystal is a barrel-shaped prism with a core colorless and a bright to dark blue outer edge. The gem is in three fragments. The largest fragment weighs 18.1 grams (90.6 carats), measures 15 mm in diameter and 20 mm in length.

"Clarity ranges from transparent to translucent," the report said. "Brittle fracture, overprinted by weathering recent surface, affects the exposed sapphire crystals. "

This is a significant discovery for True North Gems. The site had been some previous exploration activity, but it was taken in 2005 NI 43-101 technical report entitled "2005 Report on field activities for the Beluga Project Sapphire. "This new discovery" represents the climax of the 2007 exploration program now completed on the property of 18.5 km2 Beluga sapphire. "

True North Gems technical team "found nine discrete sapphire passes along the occurrence Kikturiaq 225 meters in an arc. The weight of the total collected sample in 2007 was estimated from 1.3 tonnes Kikturiaq.

"We are very encouraged that our specialized browsing experience continues promising targets, such as the occurrence Kikturiaq containing commercial-size sapphire having mineralogical characteristics similar to high quality, colorless and blue sapphire gem previously reeling from the Beluga occurrence, said Greg Davison, Exploration North gems' Vice President. Davidson is the head of planning and implementation of sapphire exploration and quality control programs in the Beluga Project.

Davidson and colleagues have also identified four events Sapphire again Beluga property, including the occurrence Imakkuutuq, which contained six sapphire projections, located 500 meters southeast of Kikturiaq.

With samples grab samples and six mini-bulk around the Beluga project now in the hands of SGS Minerals Services in Lakefield, Ontario, the analysis is ongoing.

TGX acquired additional exploration license in Greenland

Due to a number of important successes, Fiskenaesset Ruby Project in Greenland has been the main locus TGX success to date. True North has affected ruby occurrences fifty percent of the holes drilled company – a remarkable achievement, to be insurance.

Fiskenaesset is located on the southwest coast of Greenland, about 160 kilometers south of the capital Nuuk. The property of three blocks covering 110 kilometers demand square in which True North expects to earn a 100% interest.

Greg Fekete, President and Vice President of Exploration Greg Davison, along with the CEO and President Andrew Lee Smith, eager to expand holdings in the area last year applies to the Bureau of Mines and Petroleum (BMP) and the Joint Committee on Mineral Resources Greenland and Denmark for an expanded mining. The company announced in December it had received a license to explore an additional 713 km2, which the total package of exploration in Greenland to 823 km2.

True North began working on Fiskenaesset in 2004. A sample of 3,000 kg in bulk from the appearance Siggartartulik produced 144 grams per tonne gem-quality ruby and gem almost 3.3 kg per tonne. Later, the company could produce similar gem and near gem-grade five other incidents.

The most important occurrence of ruby found so far in Greenland is True North Aappaluttoq occurrence in the Fiskenaesset Ruby project. I was here in late 2005 that the company first discovered hydrothermal rubies, which are clearer, rarer and more valuable than those formed metamorphically or metasomatically.

A sample of 100 kg from 533 grams gave Aappaluttoq gem material (including 253 grams of the jewels of more than 8 mm in diameter) and 550 grams of almost gem material. The largest ruby weighed an astonishing 88 grams or 440 carats.

This stone has been carved into the Kitaa Ruby, a 302 carat ruby with detailed scenes ocean tradition.

Work in 2006, included a sample of 30 tonnes of Aappaluttoq and proved (once again) the previous work. The company reported 1937 g / t precious stones and 2563 g / t of near-gem stones.

While management of True North Gems (and investors) await the results of degree Gem of Nunavut, it is clear that 2008 holds much in store. After three years of exploration in the following years that they have passed each predecessor, this new year can be the key that investors have been waiting in the only North American producer of colored gemstones – namely, sales (and revenues) gem quality rubies, sapphires and emeralds in profitable quantities.
