How much would it be to replace a 1/3 princess Cut Diamond in Engagement Ring?
The jeweler from which it came from told me it would be my responsibility to cover the cost. However, I have been reading some bad stories of how this specific jeweler does terrible repair work & often uses cheap diamonds. Therefore, i’m looking to take it somewhere who charges a reasonable price but also does a good job. Any suggestions and price estimations?
Do you mean the price of the diamond? If so, a .33-carat Princess Cut starts around $235, depending on clarity, color, etc. I looked up the price on http://www.diamondpriceguru.com/. They list the prices and other details of diamonds at about 10 different retailers.
If you mean the price of just the service, not the diamond, it should be a lot less. Resizing a ring costs about $35 at a mall jeweler, so I’d suspect similar ring work to be close in price.

Tricks to Make Your Diamond Look Bigger
For most of us buying an engagement ring is a major investment both emotionally and financially. Finding and affording the perfect Ring Can be a tricky endeavor and for most of us it is a major investment especially if you are just starting a new live together with your partner.

By choosing specific cuts, settings and shapes you can quite easily make your diamonds look grander then they actually are and most admirers will not know the difference.
The Shape
Choosing a particular shape can dramatically enhance the illusion of having a larger diamond (or any stone). The Cut
It is also possible to get a shallow cut diamond which do indeed appear larger than they actually are however there are trade offs. The biggest trade off is the brilliance of the diamond. In a typical diamond the light which enters will bounce of the sides the of stone and back to the eye where as in a shallow cut diamond the light passes directly through. To over come this issue the shallow cut diamond can be placed on a glass surface however it should be noted that this setting can be a bit complicated to fix if it becomes necessary.
