Nisus (themovement) Lose your shoe mix

The setting sun tugs at the night’s warm wind as it carries unknown
excitement to the dance of spinning leaves. The sweetness of jasmine
rides the zephyr and replaces the smell of the city. Drawn to the beat
echoing through the concrete canyon’s glass faces, joined by others,
some skipping, some running, we all move toward the same future.
The loud pattering of shoes on asphalt taps out a syncopated rhythm
with the fast approaching spectacle of sound. Shifting points of light
sparkle onto the roadway ahead to the left. The unbound excitement
of the butterflies in our stomachs rises to our throats and takes flight.
Screaming, we turn the corner, our voices drown in waves of sound
so intense that we marvel as our clothes ripple with each kick drum
loop. Overwhelmed with joy and screaming back at the thunderous
claps of bass, hands in the air we find ourselves dancing, lost in the
melodious groove space between kick and snare. Jumping in unison
with thousands of other bodies, our attention focused toward the DJ.
His and our awareness converge within the sound. The trinity of our
experience unites and amplifies the resonance in our minds until all
goes white. “Opening your eyes to the brightness of a sunrise brings
about liberation from the darkness.” Joyously soaked in sweat, feeling
the throb of each heartbeat in every cell, light headed and standing,
you look down and realize that sometime last night, you lost a shoe.
