Having trouble with the Arabian horse in the round pen, please help!?
My Arabic (3 years) will go around the round pen, maybe once, stop and put his head over the side and refuses to move, no matter what I do. I've had since February and Mrs. B4 I could very well thrust, was beautiful! I just cannot figure out why he did not lunge for me. i know know what you're doing because it has done before, I'm all alone with no ideas and need help!
I like missapparition response, but to add to it :…. What is happening is you're getting distracted and ignoring you a disrespectful manner. It would be great if you could get roundpen fenced with privacy fence high enough for a horse he has little choice but to pay attention who is there working with him! The smooth side should be inside the circle with the outside support posts so that the horse can not get hurt if you go to hands too and smack against it. Arabs are smart waaay toooo good to anyone! This horse is getting into a very bad habit. You must call and make further up … even if he forces you to go as far as the use of the lunge whip lashes on the backside to get his attention. I can use a lunge whip with a whip long to enable the 'crack' that behind the horse to give the order to go forward, but I had to pop a couple of horses on the rump of a couple of times different just to get your attention … but I do not like one bit !!!!! After that it was like, "Well, if that's what I feel about it, I go ahead and want you to want me …." If that does not make for yourself or you do not feel comfortable doing that, then you need a professional coach (or even the woman who bought her a) to enter and help you learn to get the desired results in a way that is best for the horse. If you do not earn their respect on the ground that will never on his back! So I have absolutely no choice in the matter, but to correct the horse immediately or after the murderer of the auction as a rogue. I've seen this happen too often! I know this sounds harsh but it's reality. A reality that I had to learn the hard way years ago! … Definitely a reality that SUX!
