Does it really make a difference what carrot diamond is in an Engagement Ring? ?
I am looking at Engagement Rings. I have seen one with a 0.12 carrot diamond which looks lovely. However I am wondering if this is a high enough carrot. It’s 9 ct gold.
There is another one which is 18 ct gold and 0.15 carrot diamond but I am not sure what difference it makes in practice and I think the first one looks nice. What do you think?

I see your point though. That 0.03 carat won’t make much of a difference, so if you like the first one better go for it. You should try to at least aim for a higher ct gold though, 9’s a bit low.
One more thing: don’t buy from a regular store in the mall, those are a ripoff and are harder to find good quality. Look for something VS quality or higher, online you can find such better quality diamonds for 1/4 the price.

I’ve found from looking at diamonds in person, anything below a VS quality tends to lack that mesmerizing ability to reflect light properly the way diamonds should.
Also, try to get 18 ct gold instead of 9.
8 is considered cheap jewelry
9 is considered to be low quality
14 ct = lower quality than it should be
18 ct = best (it’s 3/4 gold mixed with metal to make it harder and more durable)
24 ct is Pure Gold, which is too soft to be jewelry.
