Engagement Prongs Ring
Engagement Ring – 4 prong vs 6 prong?
1. Has anyone ever had problems with a 4 Prong Ring? I’ve heard the diamond falls out easier.
2. Is insurance more expensive for a 4 prong ring? or is this a myth the salespeople make up?
There is not difference if you get them insured depending on 4 or 6 prong. 6 prong is recommended because yes, they are more reliable. In a 4 prong Set Ring, it is easier to to lose a diamond, no matter how good the jeweler is. If you lose a prong, there is a huge chance you will lose a diamond. I’ve seen many women come in with 4 prong sets and have either messed up a prong and their diamond was lose, or just plain lost the diamond because of a missing prong. It’s very important that you weigh the situation for YOURSELF. Nobody on here can convince you one way or another. Not everyone has had the same experience with jewelry. But having worked at a jeweler store and seeing the common problems, I can tell you that you’ll feel more comfortable w/ a 6 prong ring if you work with your hands a lot and are hard on your rings.
