2ct Princess Cut Diamond ring… too much to ask 4?? please help?
Its is so beautiful and I love it so much. Its it a 2 Carat Princess cut ring. we are getting married 5/15/09 and he asked me what I wanted so instead of a traditional band i asked for a big Beautiful Diamond the price for this is 10,000$. And I am really unsure if he will even be able to afford it. … I fell bad but as soon as I saw the ring I fell in love with it … Should I settle for something cheaper and get a band or break the bank and have him get me the ring I want…. We both still have seprate bank accounts then when we get married we will most likey get one in both are names… So I really dnt know! Also he has two jobs and works very hard for what we have …..???? I dont know
You are not selfish or bad for falling in love with a ring, and I’m sorry other people have told you otherwise. You love it. Nothing you can do about that. It doesnt determine your worth as a person. If you were saying “it’s that ring or else i’m leaving!” that would be another story.
It sounds like you guys are in a tight financial situation and he may not be able to afford it. My guess, by the fact that you posted this question, is that you really want to be with your fiance more than a ring, but that if there were a way to have this ring you wouldnt fight it.
You might not get the ring. But you might get something similar. Why not say to your fiance, “Hey, I know you told me to look for what I wanted, and I found some lovely dream rings out there…one in particular. But I also know it’s really pricey, and our future together comes first, so I dont think i want you spending that much. But how bout I show you that ring and some others like it to give you the idea of what the look is that i loved, and we can find something more reasonably priced that looks similar?”
You can often find very similar rings that have lower quality diamonds (quality differences that we might not notice, or subtle differences in the clarity that make it less “sparkly” under certain lights, but trust me still gorgeous rings). Start shopping around with that as your base point and I promise you will find other gorgeous rings that look dead-on and wont break the bank.
And dont beat yourself up for having a ring in mind that you love. You are human, and have probably been dreaming of this for a long time. Just remember, you’re getting more than the dream now–a man who loves to to share it with. So find a way to get part of this look that you love while respecting the limitations you have to work with.
